Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato, is an American singer, songwriter and actress, born in 1992.

She made her childhood debut on the Barney & Friends program, but gained notoriety thanks to her role in the Disney film Camp Rock and the successful single based on it This Is Me.

Shortly thereafter she was signed to Hollywood Records and released her first album, Don't Forget. By the time of her sophomore album Here We Go Again, she had become the youngest female artist in history to debut at #1 on the US Albums Chart.

Since her third album Unbroken, Demi Lovato has known wider success mainly with singles, reaching the top 10 of the Billboard 100 with Skyscraper, Heart Attack and Sorry Not Sorry and achieving excellent international results with songs such as Give Your Heart A Break, Cool for the Summer and Neon Lights. In her career, Lovato has sold over 24 million copies in the US alone.

Industry critics have hailed her voice as one of the best of her generation and in the music industry at large. Her fifth studio album Confident by Her earned her first Grammy Award nomination.

In October 2010, Demi Lovato abandoned the world tour conducted alongside the Jonas Brothers to be hospitalized in a private facility due to physical and emotional problems. Media later revealed that she made this decision after punching one of the tour's dancers, Alex Welch, in the face.

On 28 January 2011 she finished her treatment after spending ninety days in Timberline Knolls centre. Shortly thereafter, she admitted to having suffered from bulimia, attempting to relieve the pain with the use of drugs and alcohol. She later said she used cocaine several times a day.

On July 24, 2018 of the same year, Lovato was hospitalized following an opioid overdose; the singer had been found unconscious by rescuers at her home in the Hollywood Hills. The singer then returned to the clinic to be treated.

In 2021 she confessed that, after the 2018 overdose, which caused her three strokes and a heart attack, she had permanent damage to her health, including a brain injury and blind spots in her vision that make it impossible to drive of cars.
