Eminem is considered one of the best hip hop artists ever. In March 2022, he became the artist with the most singles sold in music history with over 166 million copies, also being the only rapper in history to have three albums certified diamond disc in the country.

In parallel to his activity as a rapper, Eminem has also established himself as a record producer of hip hop albums, producing artists through his own record label, Shady Records, founded with his manager Paul Rosenberg. Starting in 2002 he embarked on a career as an actor, starring in 8 Mile, directed by Curtis Hanson, which achieved great success; the song Lose Yourself, contained in the film, allowed the rapper to win the Oscar for best song in 2003, the first hip hop song in history to obtain the coveted recognition.

Eminem drew inspiration from not only hip hop but rock and pop artists as well. These influences can be seen particularly in the album The Eminem Show, in which there are numerous samples of electric guitar riffs and influences of Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith and Jimi Hendrix that stand out in the song Sing for the Moment which contains a sample from Dream On, from which Steven Tyler's chorus and Joe Perry's solo are taken.

Eminem's lyrics contain topics typical of hip hop culture, such as anger towards society and politics: in fact, attacks on former US President George W. Bush with extremely politicized songs are not uncommon. These general topics are often se they are flanked by other more introspective ones, which deal with the artist's bad relationship with his mother.

Alongside these topics are often accompanied by other lighter ones such as parodies of American pop music, in texts and videos Eminem often makes fun of artists such as Paris Hilton, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey but especially Moby.
