Zayn Malik

Zayn is a British singer, member of the boy band One Direction until 25 March 2015, when he embarked on a solo career. In 2010 Zayn presented himself as a solo singer at the auditions of the seventh edition of the talent show The X Factor, playing Let Me Love You by Mario. Initially his audition was not broadcast on British TV and only aired during The Xtra Factor. At Bootcamp he was rejected as a soloist, but Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger joined him with Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Liam Payne to form the boy band One Direction, thus participating in the talent show, winning third place.

Following The X Factor, the quintet signed a £2 million deal with Syco, with whom they released their debut album Up All Night in November 2011. Preceded by the single What Makes You Beautiful, the album achieved great commercial success, reaching first position in the British album charts and fourth in the US Billboard 200. The subsequent singles Gotta Be You and One Thing were also great commercial successes.
