Penelope Cruz

Penélope Cruz, born 1974, is a Spanish actress and model. In 2001 she received international attention for the films Blow, Captain Corelli's Mandolin and Vanilla Sky. In her career she has been nominated four times for the Academy Award respectively in the best leading actress section for Volver and in the best supporting actress section for Nine and Vicky Cristina Barcelona, winning it for the last mentioned film.

She has also won a BAFTA Award, three Goya Awards, a Prix d'interprétation féminine at the Cannes Film Festival, a Volpi Cup at the Venice Film Festival and a David di Donatello for best leading actress. In 2018 she received her first Emmy Award nomination for her portrayal of Donatella Versace in the second season of the TV series American Crime Story.

She had a romantic relationship with the composer Nacho Cano of the Spanish musical group Mecano, and with the actors Tom Cruise, from 2001 to 2004, and Matthew McConaughey, from 2004 to 2006. On 14 July 2010 she married her colleague Javier Bardem, her partner since 2007. The couple had two children: Leonardo, born in Los Angeles on January 22, 2011, and Luna, born in Madrid on July 22, 2013.
