Jada Pinkett Smith, born in 1971, began her acting career in 1990, with a guest appearance on the short-lived sitcom True Colors, and later starred in the television series A Different World. She has acted in more than 20 films, including Set It Off, Scream 2, Ali, The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions, Collateral, Madagascar, Bad Moms, Girls Trip. On television she has starred in Hawthorne and Gotham.
Pinkett Smith began her music career in 2002 when she helped form the heavy metal band, Wicked Wisdom, for which she was a singer and songwriter. Together with her husband Will Smith and James Lassiter she has a production company, Overbrook Entertainment. She has also written a children's book, Girls Hold Up This World, which was published in 2004.
In July 2020, the couple revealed that they had been apart for a short time. Pinkett Smith admitted to having had, at the same time, a relationship with singer August Alsina, a friend of her son Jaden.
