Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise is an American actor and film producer. In his career he was nominated four times for Oscars, in the category of best leading actor and best supporting actor, winning three Golden Globes. Most film critics consider him among the most representative action stars of all time.

He achieved international fame as an actor, for his role in Top Gun and then later with the Mission: Impossible film series. Since 2005, Cruise and Paula Wagner have been appointed heads of the United Artists Studio: Cruise as producer and Wagner as chief executive. The actor is also known for his adherence and support of Scientology. His notable public criticism of psychiatry and the use of anti-depressant drugs has sparked controversy and media interest. Forbes magazine ranked him as one of the most famous celebrities in the world in 2006.

In November 1989 he met the actress Nicole Kidman and, after a very short engagement period, the two married on 24 December 1990. The marriage with Kidman lasted about ten years, until their divorce on 8 August 2001. It seems that one of the reasons for the gesture was of a religious nature. While Cruise continued to passionately adhere to the Scientology religion, Kidman continued to remain tied to Catholicism and she desired baptism for her two children, Isabella Jane and Connor Anthony, both adopted. Kidman, in an interview given in 2007, revealed to the press that she had had two miscarriages during her marriage, one at the beginning and one in the last few months.

After the divorce, Cruise had relationships with the actress Penélope Cruz, whom he met on the set of Vanilla Sky, from 2001 to 2004, and with the actress Nazanin Boniadi. In April 2005 he began dating actress Katie Holmes, with whom he had a daughter, Suri, born on April 18, 2006. The couple married on November 18 of the same year, in Italy. In 2012 Cruise divorced Katie Holmes and the two reached an agreement regarding custody and support of their daughter, although Cruise and her daughter have not had a relationship since 2013.
