
Drake (born 1986), is a Canadian rapper, singer, record producer and actor with US citizenship.
In 2006 he decided to pursue a career as a rapper and singer, releasing his first mixtape, Room for Improvement, followed by two other projects, Comeback Season and So Far Gone, which helped him get noticed in the hip hop scene, so as to succeed, in 2009, to sign a record deal with the Young Money label founded by rapper Lil Wayne.
In 2010, he released his first studio album, Thank Me Later, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was soon certified platinum by the RIAA.
Drake holds several Billboard chart records: he holds the record for most songs by a solo artist on the charts (154), most songs on the Billboard 100 simultaneously in a week (24), most time chart presence with at least one song (431 weeks), and most songs debuted on the 100 in one week (21).
He is one of the most successful rappers ever, having sold around 170 million records worldwide. In 2021 he was awarded by Billboard as artist of the decade 2010-2020.[9] He is also the owner of a record label, OVO Sound, founded in 2012.
