Hugh Jackman, born in 1968, is an Australian actor, best known for his portrayal of the mutant Wolverine in the X-Men film saga.

His career includes leading roles in many successful films including Kate & Leopold, Scoop, The Fountain, The Prestige, Australia and Les Misérables: for the latter role he obtained critical acclaim, the Golden Globe for best actor in a musical or comedy film and nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actor, the BAFTA and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

In 2004 he won the Tony Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Musical and the Drama Desk Award for The Boy from Oz. He subsequently won a Special Tony Award.

In April 1996 he married actress Deborra-Lee Furness, whom he met on the set of Corelli. Having difficulty having children and having always wanted to adopt, the couple adopt two: Oscar Maximilian in 2000 and Ava Eliot in 2005.

On 22 November 2013 he underwent surgery to remove a skin cancer of the basal cell carcinoma type, an operation which was then repeated on 9 May 2014 and 13 February 2017. Within eighteen months he underwent the removal of four tumors to the skin.

He is godfather to Grace and Chloe, daughters of media mogul Rupert Murdoch. On December 13, 2012, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, number 2487.
