He is the son of his father Daniel Gallagher and mother Monica Gallagher. His father was an employee of the Irish Electricity Supply Board and mother was a singer as well as a performer. The theatre in Ballyshannon where Rory’s mom once acted is now called the Rory Gallagher Theatre.
Rory and his brother were raised by their parents in the place called Cork. Both of them were equally influenced by their parents in music.
At the age of nine, Rory received his first guitar from them. Initially, he practised on a ukulele, teaching himself to play the guitar and performed at minor functions.
Athe the age of 12, Gallagher won a cash prize in a talent contest and it was back then he bought his first guitar. During his early teenage years, Rory began performing with both his acoustic guitar and an electric guitar.
Later, he had an eye on the 1961 Fender Stratocaster. However, it took him three years to purchase it for £100, which he had alongside most of his career.

In the late eighties, Gallagher had developed a severe aerophobia, against which he was prescribed a strong sedative. It’s combination with the consumption of alcohol damaged his liver and he had to undergo a transplant.
Nonetheless, several weeks after becoming infected with staphylococci (MRSA), Rory Gallagher passed away on June 14, 1995, London, England. He was 47 years of age.

The Irish multi-instrumentalist, Rory Gallagher debuted as a professional guitarist when he was just 15 years old in the Fontana sextet.
After releasing the Taste and On the Boards, he dissolved the band due to problems between his members and began his solo career in 1971 with the album Rory Gallagher.
During the seventies, Rory achieved fame in Europe; thanks to the Deuce, Blueprint and Tattoo productions, loaded with blues-rock. With the albums Against the Grain and Calling Card, Gallagher introduced himself in new and different musical styles such as jazz, rock and hard rock.
