American former professional basketball player, Larry Joe Bird was born in West Baden Springs, Indiana, on December 7, 1956, and raised in nearby French Lick, where he started playing basketball at an early age.
Bird attended Springs Valley High School in French Lick and graduated in 1974. At the time, he was involved in the school's basketball team and became the all-time leading scorer. Larry received a scholarship at the Indiana University where he played for legendary coach Bob Knight.
