Iconic Musical Revival Debuts at Ogunquit Playhouse

Maine's renowned Ogunquit Playhouse is all set to unveil its latest rendition of the classic musical, "The Sound of Music." This production, a masterpiece by the iconic duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, is slated to commence on November 29, with a grand opening night scheduled for December 1.

Audiences can revel in this limited engagement until December 17. Taking center stage in this much-anticipated production is Emilie Kouatchou, known for her captivating performance in "The Phantom of the Opera." She steps into the role of Maria von Trapp, while Robert Lenzi, acclaimed for his role in "Tina: The Tina Turner Musical," portrays Captain von Trapp.

The production boasts an impressive ensemble, including Allison Blackwell ("Porgy and Bess") as Mother Abbess, Barrett Foa ("Avenue Q") in the role of Maximillian Detweiler, Spencer LaRue from "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" as Rolf, Kate Loprest ("First Date") as Elsa Schraeder, and Elizabeth Teeter of "Beetlejuice" fame as Liesl von Trapp.

Expansive Cast Unveiled

The expansive cast also features talented artists like Jade April, Tommy Betz, Alexander Brown, Ella Capetta, Carlyn Connolly, Nathaniel Cummons, Clara Curtis, Chloe Ferraro, Alyssa Giannetti, Jack Hogan, Benjamin Howes, Sophia Kaiafas, Mary Malaney, Josie Marzilli, Jack Mastrianni, Cassie Maurer, Cassi Mikat, Isabella Pike, Casey Ross, Emily Royer, Paul Scanlan, Molly Scott, Gabriyel Thomas, Scarlett Thomas, Stephen Joshua Thompson, Christina Tompkins, Charlotte Van Ledtje, and Rhys Williams.

The casting process was meticulously handled by Arc Casting's Mark Brandon and Jarrett Reiche. "The Sound of Music" is revered for its enchanting music by Rodgers, poignant lyrics by Hammerstein, and a compelling book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse.

The Ogunquit Playhouse's production is helmed by Anthony C. Daniel, who brings his unique vision to both direction and choreography, complemented by Andrew David Sotomayor's musical direction. The creative prowess behind the scenes includes lighting designer Richard Latta, costume designer Robin L.

McGee, sound designer Justin Stasiw, and wig, hair, and makeup designer Roxanne De Luna. Daniel Everett ensures a seamless experience as the production stage manager. This spellbinding musical journey is presented through a special arrangement with Concord Theatricals, promising an unforgettable experience for theater enthusiasts.
