Lipa Honors LuckyChap

At the Variety event, Lipa had the honor of presenting the producer of the year award to LuckyChap Entertainment, co-founded by Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, and Josey McNamara. This tribute recognized their commitment to empowering female storytellers and filmmakers.

LuckyChap Entertainment notably produced this year’s blockbuster, "Barbie," in which Lipa stars as Mermaid Barbie. Her track "Dance the Night," featured in the movie, has garnered a Grammy nomination for best song written for visual media.

Lipa’s involvement in "Barbie" has been a source of immense pride for her. "It’s been a dream to be part of such an iconic movie. The solidarity and energy behind the film, especially among women, has been heartwarming," she remarked.

Further expanding her artistic reach, Lipa teased her upcoming role in Matthew Vaughn’s action-packed spy film, "Argylle," set for a February 2024 release. The film showcases her in thrilling scenes alongside Henry Cavill, from motorcycle stunts to dynamic action sequences.

“Working with Henry was amazing, and Matthew Vaughn’s direction was fantastic," Lipa said, emphasizing her focus on acting in this project. Lipa’s latest single, "Houdini," has been praised by Variety’s executive music editor Jem Aswad as a track that continues the legacy of her previous album, "Future Nostalgia," for which she received a Grammy for best pop vocal album.

The Variety’s Power of Women event also celebrated other influential women in the industry, including Billie Eilish, Fantasia Barrino, Carey Mulligan, and Lily Gladstone.
