In a recent ruling that has drawn significant attention from the entertainment world, Los Angeles Judge David Herriford denied bail to rapper Tory Lanez, legally known as Daystar Peterson. Lanez, who was sentenced to a decade behind bars this past August over a high-profile shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion, sought to remain outside prison while his appeal was underway.

His request was swiftly declined. This decision stems from an incident in July 2020, when Lanez allegedly shot Megan Thee Stallion, born Megan Pete, in the feet after a heated argument. The aftermath of the event traces back to a pool party at Kylie Jenner's Los Angeles residence.

After the soirée, tensions flared between Megan, Lanez, Megan's former assistant, and ex-friend Kelsey Harris, eventually leading to an altercation outside their vehicle in the Hollywood Hills.

Megan's testimony from the previous year painted a haunting scene.

As she tried distancing herself from the escalating dispute, Lanez allegedly shouted, "Dance, bitch!" and fired a 9mm pistol in her direction. "I hear a gun going off. I couldn’t believe he was shooting at me. He was holding the gun, pointing it at me,” Megan recalled.

Fast forward to December 2022, after a nine-day trial at the Los Angeles Superior Court, Lanez was found guilty on multiple charges, including assault with a semi-automatic firearm and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

During this recent bail appeal hearing, Lanez's legal defense was spearheaded by attorneys Crystal Morgan and Michael Hayden from the nonprofit Unite the People. After the bail was denied, Lanez, undeterred, displayed a grin towards his supporters, including his father and colleagues from the Unite the People legal group, before being escorted out.

Speaking to reporter Meghan Cuniff, Lanez's appellate lawyers commented on the hearing's outcome. One attorney remarked, "We argued the elements of our case and the judge didn't agree with our side. That happens. But this is just the first step in the appellate process." In an emotional Instagram post last month, Lanez staunchly asserted his innocence.

"I have never let a hard time intimidate me," he wrote, suggesting that adversity has been a longstanding opponent, yet he has always emerged victorious. He expressed gratitude to his close ones and supporters, and amidst this ongoing legal saga, Lanez's next moves remain closely watched by fans and critics alike.
