Pink, the 43-year-old Grammy-winning singer, has candidly revealed that she gained 36 pounds during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, she has managed to lose the weight and is now stronger than ever, referring to herself as "the bionic woman." The singer has undergone hip surgery and double disc replacement surgery in her neck, which she spoke about for the first time in November 2021.
Overcoming Physical Challenges
"Having breaks is good for my voice. Not so good for the body," Pink told Variety in a recent interview. "Especially during COVID - I gained 36 pounds. All I did was make sourdough and then eat the sourdough." Despite the physical challenges, Pink stated that she managed to drop the extra weight and is now in the best shape of her life.
"I’ve lost those 36 pounds, and I am stronger than I’ve ever been in my life," she said. "And I’m ready to go [on tour], and I’m ready to get the hell out of here. I’ve been home way too long."
Learning the Gift of Accepting Help
The recovery process was not without its difficulties, as Pink described the first week post-surgery as "brutal" with "tears and pain med depression, ulcers from meds, and constant fevers."
Honoring Her Late Father Through Music
It has been a difficult few years for Pink, as she experienced the loss of her father, who died of prostate cancer in 2021.
Despite the tragedy, she remains grateful and tries to hold on to the good memories. "I know sometimes I have a tendency to remember the bad s–t. I want to try to hold on to the good; there was a lot of good," she said in a recent interview.
Expressing Emotions Through Music
Pink has channeled her emotions into her upcoming album, Trustfall. "I feel like we’re all in this constant state of overwhelm, and so we put our feelings away just so that we can get through a day," she told Variety. "I wanted to find a way back to the truth and the authentic feelings." Pink is known for being an open and honest individual, and this sentiment is reflected in her music. "If you ask me how I am, how much time do you have?" she said.
