Recently, Chris Brown took to social media to express his frustration with people who still hold a grudge against him for his abuse of singer Rihanna. In a lengthy rant, the 33-year-old singer declared himself as the "king" and expressed his exhaustion with the constant reminder of his past actions.
He also questioned the lack of accountability for "white artists" who have engaged in similar behavior. "I'm f–king 33! I'm tired of y'all running with this narrative," Brown wrote on Friday. He added, "People watch the tumultuous relationship between rapper Blueface and his girlfriend Chrisean Rock, who 'beat the f–k out of each other in front of the world,' but that's okay? It’s entertainment? All y'all can suck my d–k disrespectfully." Brown also questioned the absence of "cancel culture" for "white artists" who have dated minors or been accused of domestic abuse.
"Oh. That’s right... they are your buddies," he continued. "No more fake love from me. Stay out of my way or get ran over simple as that!"
Brown's Rant Comes After Super Bowl Performance by Rihanna
Brown's comments came after the Super Bowl halftime show, where Rihanna performed.
Despite her fantastic performance, Brown received backlash when he wrote "Go girl" on his Instagram after the show, leading many to call him a hypocrite. The assault against Rihanna took place in 2009, when the two were in a rented Lamborghini after a pre-Grammys party.
According to a sworn statement given to a Los Angeles detective, Brown punched Rihanna repeatedly, bit her ear, and attempted to maneuver the rental car down the street. The incident resulted in both Brown and Rihanna canceling their performances at the awards ceremony that night.
In 2010, Rihanna spoke about the assault in an interview with W Magazine. "At first, I completely shut down. But now I feel like this happened to me so I could be a voice for young girls who are going through what I went through and don't know how to talk about it," she said.
Brown was charged with one count of felony assault and received a five-year restraining order against his ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran in 2017. Rihanna, on the other hand, is currently expecting her second child with A$AP Rocky and continues to be a voice for young women.
