"Renaissance" Deserving of Album of the Year, Says Jay-Z

The music world was buzzing with anticipation for the Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 5, as some of the biggest names in the industry gathered to celebrate the best in music from the past year. But as the awards ceremony approached, one legendary rapper and husband of multiple-time nominee Beyonce, Jay-Z, made it clear he believed his wife's album "Renaissance" was deserving of the highest honor - Album of the Year.

In an interview with Tidal, Jay-Z shared his thoughts on the album and why he believed it should win. "The truth is, we grew up wanting to be on the Grammys, and it was our goal. We just want them to get it right. That's what we want," the rapper stated.

Despite being nominated for Album of the Year four times, Beyonce has yet to take home the trophy. However, she did make history by becoming the most-awarded artist in Grammy history, winning Best Dance/Electronic Album - her 32nd win overall - for "Renaissance."

Jay-Z: "Renaissance" Inspires Creativity

Jay-Z was passionate in his belief that "Renaissance" was deserving of the highest honor, as he discussed the impact it has had on the culture and the world.

"Look what it's done to the culture. Look how the energy of the world moved. They play her whole album in the club. I don't know if I've ever seen that. The whole entire joint - like, everything?! Every remix is amazing. Everyone's inspired.

It has inspired the world. When it just inspires creativity, that's an album. That has to be Album of the Year," Jay-Z said. However, the committee that decided on the award did not share his opinion and chose Harry Styles' album "Harry's House" as the Album of the Year.

This caused an awkward moment at the award ceremony as Harry Styles took the stage to accept the award, with Beyonce's fans whistling and shouting that she should have received the award instead. Despite the disappointment, Beyonce graciously accepted her win for Best Dance/Electronic Album, saying, "I'm trying not to be too emotional. And I'm trying to just receive this night. I want to thank God for protecting me. Thank you, God."
