Actress Kate Hudson, known for her role in the cult film "Almost Famous," has revealed that she is a musician and plans to release an album in the coming year. Hudson shared this news during an interview with Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show." She said that she has been writing music for some time and enjoys singing.

This news comes as a surprise to many, as Hudson is known primarily for her acting career. “I love to sing,” Hudson said as the late-night host duo and Glass Onion actress discussed their roles in Almost Famous.

“I feel weird saying it… I’ve been making a record for like a year. It’s so fun”. In "Almost Famous," Hudson played the role of Penny Lane, the groupie girl of a fictitious rock band. She received critical acclaim for her performance and was nominated for an Oscar and won a Golden Globe.

Hudson has also appeared in other films such as "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" and "Mother's Day." She is the daughter of Goldie Hawn and has been active in the entertainment industry since the late 1990s. She said that she has been writing music for many years and that the pandemic provided her with the time and space to finally pursue her passion for music.

Hudson also sang a few songs for the audience during her appearance on the show. “Every time you’re doing interviews, people are like ‘Do you have any regrets?’ And I’m like, ‘I’m early 40s, not yet,'” she said.

“But during Covid, I was like: ‘What am I doing?'” Hudson's decision to pursue a career in music comes at a time when many actors are branching out into the music industry. “I’ve been writing music since I was 19 and I’ve never shared it and so I thought that would be one of my great regrets,” Hudson said.

“I have no expectations. I just want to put a record out and so I’m doing it and I’m really excited. I can’t wait”.

It remains to be seen how well Hudson's music will be received by audiences.
