Exciting developments are underway in ?mokoroa as construction kicks off for a lavish $280 million country club, set to offer a host of upscale amenities. The project, spearheaded by the renowned Sanderson Group, has received the necessary resource consent to construct 162 standalone villas at the Omokoroa Country Club.

The initial phase of this ambitious project encompasses 63 villas and the construction of the main clubhouse, which is slated to commence in approximately two weeks. Completing this retirement village is expected to generate over 70 employment opportunities.

Simultaneously, progress is being made on The Village ?mokoroa, a multimillion-dollar commercial development. The first phase of this venture is set to conclude by the following month. Additionally, earthworks are underway for a $75 million retail and residential hub in ?mokoroa.

The Sanderson Group has confirmed that the Omokoroa Country Club pre-sales have surpassed expectations, with numerous villas already sold. Residents are anticipated to start moving in by February of next year. The retirement village will boast an expansive 1700-square-meter clubhouse, including a bar, café, dance floor, billiards room, state-of-the-art movie theatre, and library.

Further enhancing the luxurious experience, an exclusive 700-square-meter health spa will feature a swimming pool, spa, sauna, gymnasium, hairdresser, and specialized consulting rooms for beauty treatments and massage therapy.

The village will also include an 80-bed dementia care facility and a stunning lakehouse that overlooks the picturesque Waipapa stream in Whakam?rama, considered one of the village's crown jewels. While the main clubhouse café will be open to the public, the other amenities will be exclusive to residents and their families.

Daryl Scott, the director of the Omokoroa Country Club, expressed excitement about the upcoming construction, highlighting the meticulous preparation of the first villas and the planned development of scenic river banks and boardwalks.

Luxury Retirement Village: Setting the Standard

Scott envisions the retirement village as a benchmark for top-tier retirement living in the country, catering to the growing demand for luxury retirement options and premium care facilities.

He emphasizes the allure of ?mokoroa as an ideal location due to its desirable lifestyle amenities, including golf courses, bowling clubs, beaches, and extensive walking and cycling trails. In collaboration with Warren and Mahoney Architects and Rough Milne Mitchell landscape architecture specialists, the Sanderson Group aims to create an unparalleled retirement living experience at the Omokoroa Country Club.

With public biking tracks encircling the property, a golf driving range, and an international-size bowling green, the developers aspire to set a new standard in retirement living. In parallel with the retirement village project, The Village ?mokoroa, developed by Foster Develop Limited, is on track for completion next month.

Occupying prime real estate adjacent to the FreshChoice supermarket on the corner of Tralee St and Hamurana Rd, this commercial development will encompass 4500 square meters of retail and commercial space, providing an array of amenities and employment opportunities for the community.

Furthermore, progress is underway for the $75 million Omokoroa Town Centre, which obtained resource consent in May 2021. Jace Investments Limited has invested significantly in environmental initiatives and plans to commence the second stage of earthworks soon, followed by infrastructure development.

The Mayor of Western Bay of Plenty, James Denyer, expresses enthusiasm for these transformative developments in ?mokoroa, emphasizing the town's growth potential. Denyer views the town center as the linchpin of ?mokoroa's evolution, generating employment, fostering community, and shaping the town's identity.

With the construction of new schools also slated to begin next year, ?mokoroa is truly on its way to becoming a vibrant, self-sustaining town.
