Lunaz, the specialist in electric conversions of classic British vehicles, has once again left its mark in the automotive industry with the electrification of a luxurious Bentley S2 Continental from 1961. The company, known for its meticulous restorations and the integration of sustainable materials, has transformed one of the rarest examples of the James Young-bodied model into a fully electric Marvel.
A Breathtaking Transformation
The Bentley S2 Continental, once powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine and an automatic transmission, has undergone a complete overhaul at the hands of Lunaz. The V8 engine has been replaced by an electric drive that delivers a thrilling 400 horsepower and 719 Nm of torque, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds.
In addition to the new powertrain, Lunaz has installed a fully adjustable coil-spring suspension, allowing the driver to configure the settings from the cab. The braking system has also been upgraded, featuring discs with six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear.
Inside, the car's interior has been restored to the highest standards, featuring sustainable materials such as upholstery made from regenerated nylon fibers and leather, as well as certified wood veneers. The result is a breathtaking blend of classic elegance and modern sustainability.
The Rarest of Its Kind
As one of only four examples of its type in the world, the Bentley S2 Continental was already a rare and exceptional vehicle. But in its new guise as a fully electric marvel, it is now the rarest vehicle to ever undergo the Lunaz electrification treatment.
"This magnificent Bentley S2 Continental was already an exceptional motor car," explains Lunaz CEO David Lorenz. "In its new guise, it's the rarest vehicle ever to be converted to fully electric propulsion." Lunaz, which completely restores its vehicles down to the last screw, has previously electrified a 1961 Bentley S2 Continental Flying Spur, which was priced at £350,000.
The company also introduced a pair of classic Land Rover Range Rovers with electric drive, including a Town model with an extended wheelbase, equipped with high-end amenities such as a 1,300W sound system, heated and cooled cup holders, and a wireless charger.
The transformation of the rare Bentley S2 Continental by Lunaz is a testament to the company's commitment to reviving classic vehicles with modern sustainability, preserving the timeless beauty and luxury of the past for future generations to enjoy.
