The Oceanco yacht Y721, which set sail with its owner Jeff Bezos in September, finally looks like it's ready to be delivered to him just four months after it first set sail. Recently, it has been spotted that the 127-meter-long luxury yacht was docked in Rotterdam's port in a fully completed condition, suggesting that she is just a few weeks away from being delivered.
It has a three masts which are still known as Project 721 or Y721, and along with the fact that it is the largest superyacht ever built at Oceanco shipyard, it is also the longest yacht ever built in the Netherlands. There have been a number of news reports linking the giant superyacht to Amazon's second-richest man, Jeff Bezos, despite Oceanco and Bezos not confirming this.
However, news reports indicate that the yacht was built for him.
Oceanco Y721
It has been a busy year for the Oceanco Y721, and it's been making headlines for all the wrong reasons since the beginning of the year. The story all began with a news report claiming that Oceanco had filed a request to the city of Rotterdam for temporary dismantling of the historic Koningshaven Bridge in order to launch a yacht with masts that could reach 70 meters in height.
In the immediate aftermath of her arrival in the port town of Rotterdam, she was met with fierce protests and even residents threatened to throw rotten eggs at the $500 million superyacht. The Dutch shipbuilding company eventually decided to override the city's request and transport the ship without the masts attached.
They even did it in the dead of night and took a longer and less used route, bypassing the bridge entirely, just to avoid unnecessary attention. Despite keeping most of the details of the world-record-breaking superyacht under wraps, Oceanco has revealed that it was inspired by the Black Pearl yacht, which it delivered in 2018, and which is considered one of the most technologically advanced yachts ever built.
With a length of 127 meters, the Y741, which will replace the current world record-holder, Sea Cloud, in the top spot as the largest yacht in the world, is set to become the world's largest yacht. It has a black hull, white superstructure, and classic exterior lines, which can be seen in the video.
