Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler is facing serious allegations of s*xual abuse and exploitation of a minor in a lawsuit filed in a Los Angeles court. The suit, which does not name Tyler directly but includes allegations that match those made by the musician in his 2011 memoir, was filed by Julia Misley (formerly Holcomb), who was a minor at the time of the alleged abuse.
According to the lawsuit, Misley met Tyler, who was 25 at the time, after a concert in 1973 and was invited to his hotel, where he "performed several illegal s*xual acts" on her. Misley, who was 16 at the time, claims that she did not have the means to resist Tyler's "power, fame, and generous financial resources," and that he convinced her that their relationship was a "love story." Tyler, who has admitted to obtaining custody of Misley from her mother in 1974 and promising to take care of her welfare and education, is accused of continuing to s*xually exploit her.
In 1975, Misley claims that Tyler forced her to have an abortion before she left the music industry and turned to religion.
Misley remained out of the public eye until the publication of Tyler's biography, which led to tabloids revealing her identity and "turning her whole world upside down," forcing her to reveal her past to her family.
The lawsuit states that the revelation of her past caused Misley significant emotional pain and suffering and that she has lived with the trauma of the abuse for decades. This is not the first time that Tyler has faced allegations of s*xual misconduct.
In 2017, he was accused of s*xually harassing a female subordinate during a tour, and in the past, he has faced accusations of abuse from former romantic partners. Despite the seriousness of the allegations, Tyler has yet to publicly respond to the lawsuit or address the claims made by Misley.
It is unclear at this time what the outcome of the case will be, but the allegations have already caused significant damage to Tyler's reputation and career. The incident serves as a reminder of the lasting impact that s*xual abuse can have on survivors and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
