The third installment of the widely acclaimed Knives Out series is rapidly coming to fruition. Renowned filmmaker Rian Johnson recently revealed the title and initial details of this eagerly anticipated film. Titled Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the movie promises to bring fresh intrigue and mystery to the beloved franchise. With an ensemble cast that continues to grow, the excitement surrounding the film is palpable.

A Star-Studded Cast Assembles

In an exciting development, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Glenn Close, famed for her roles in Fatal Attraction and 101 Dalmatians, is in talks to join the cast of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. While the specifics of her role remain under wraps, her involvement is sure to add depth and prestige to the film.

Daniel Craig will reprise his role as the astute Detective Benoit Blanc, a character who has become a cornerstone of the series. Joining him are several new faces, including Josh O'Connor (Challengers, The Crown), Cailee Spaeny (Civil War, Priscilla), Andrew Scott (Sherlock, Fleabag), and Kerry Washington (Scandal, Little Fires Everywhere). The addition of these talented actors suggests that Wake Up Dead Man will maintain the high standard of performance set by its predecessors.

Rian Johnson, in sharing the film's title and initial details, expressed his enthusiasm for the project. "I love everything about whodunnits," Johnson said. "One of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There's a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies. We're about to go into production on the 3rd one, and I'm very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it's going."

The Mystery Deepens

While plot details for Wake Up Dead Man are still under tight wraps, the production team has hinted that this chapter will be markedly different from both Knives Out and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. The specifics of the storyline remain a mystery, but the return of Detective Benoit Blanc guarantees another intricate and engaging puzzle for audiences to unravel.

Producer Ram Bergman provided some insight into the film's development process. "The first one, [Johnson] had the idea for years in his head, but he only put pen to paper late January and by the end of October we were filming it, which is super fast," Bergman explained. "This movie, he really did not have an idea. He just stopped thinking and we were... From the moment he started really writing it, like, nine months later, a year later, we were filming. So, the good thing is he is very motivated to go do the next one as quickly as possible. But, you know, we'll see how fast he is but this is gonna be a challenge. It's gonna be a bigger challenge. So we'll see how long it's gonna take."

Adding to the excitement is the recent announcement that Jeremy Renner, known for his role in Avengers and Hawkeye, will be joining the cast. This news follows Renner's remarkable recovery from a serious snow plow accident on New Year's Day 2023, marking a significant milestone in his comeback.

Renner's resilience and determination were highlighted in a recent CNN interview. "I think it's just I'm so blessed that I had so many things to live for, brother," Renner shared. "I have a giant family. I have a 10-year-old daughter. I would have disappointed and really messed up a lot of people's lives if I would have passed, and so there's a lot for me to get better for."
