The year 2024 is gearing up to be an extraordinary period for movie premieres, spanning theaters, Netflix, and Prime Video. Expand your watchlist because the lineup of fantastic movies is growing by the day! has determined the most eagerly awaited movies by examining how frequently each upcoming film appears in users' watchlists on the social platform Letterboxd.

Here are the highly anticipated films that movie buffs can't wait to see!

1. Dune: Part Two

Dune: Part Two has claimed the title of the most highly anticipated movie of 2024. With an impressive 21,153 watchlists on Letterboxd, it's clear that there's considerable interest surrounding this film.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve and featuring a star-studded cast including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Florence Pugh, this sci-fi movie hit theaters on March 1st. Villeneuve has promised a sequel that is even more action-packed than its original, which has undoubtedly heightened excitement among fans.

The action factor tends to captivate wide audiences, further fueling anticipation for this upcoming release.

2. Deadpool 3

Deadpool 3 comes in second, with 12,122 watchlist additions. Notably, it is the only Marvel Cinematic Universe film confirmed for release in 2024.

Despite accumulating a respectable number of watchlist additions at 12,122, I anticipated a higher count. Directed by Shawn Levy, the movie features Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Jennifer Garner, promising audiences more laughter and superhero action.

Deadpool 3 is set to hit theaters starting on July 26th. It wouldn't be surprising to discover that a majority of fans of the Deadpool franchise consider the first film the best installment. IMDb reports that the ratings for Deadpool 1 and Deadpool 2 are relatively close.

Some may consider the first one to be better, while others may consider the second one to be superior. It is possible to argue both sides.

3. Nosferatu

In third place is "Nosferatu," which has garnered 11,340 watchlist additions from movie fans and is scheduled for release on Christmas Day in 2024.

Directed by Robert Eggers and featuring Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, and Lily-Rose Depp, the original 1922 film "Nosferatu" was an unauthorized adaptation of Dracula, adding to fans' expectation for this release.

"Nosferatu" holds a special place in my opinion as a unique and intriguing film. The overall atmosphere, color palette, and the protagonist's attire create a suspenseful ambiance, making this film much creepier than many contemporary horror movies.

4. Joker: Folie À Deux

Following in fourth position is "Joker: Folie À Deux," which has amassed 10,004 additions to watchlists ahead of its scheduled release on October 4th. Directed by Todd Phillips, this sequel features Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, and Lady Gaga in leading roles.

Lady Gaga's portrayal of Harley Quinn in this distinct universe differs from Margot Robbie's rendition in "Birds of Prey." The Joker franchise consistently attracts the attention of audiences. However, I never expected Lady Gaga to assume this role, given her predominant presence in the music industry.

Nevertheless, her eccentric style and unique persona seem fitting for the character.

5. Mickey 17

Ranked fifth on the list and set to release on March 29th in cinemas is, "Mickey 17". It was created by director Bong Joon-ho and features an ensemble cast including Robert Pattinson, Mark Ruffalo, and Toni Collette.

The storyline centers on Mickey Barnes, a character left with the extraordinary ability to resurrect after death. Initially, I presumed "Mickey 17" to be a Disney Mickey Mouse production based solely on its title. However, upon further investigation, I've become genuinely intrigued by the film.

The chance of a character returning to life is inherently captivating. If such a phenomenon were likely for everyone, it would certainly add meaning to existence.

6. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

The movie "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" ranks as the sixth most anticipated film for 2024, garnering 8,802 watchlist adds ahead of its release on May 24th in theaters.

Directed by George Miller, the spin-off features stars such as Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, and Nathan Jones. It's evident that fans are eagerly expecting more post-apocalyptic adventures from the road warrior Mad Max.

Another action-packed movie! This genre consistently dominates annual movie lists. However, it's worth noting that while films may share the same genre, their storylines often vary, which adds to the excitement.

7. Challengers

In seventh position, closely trailing behind is "Challengers," accumulating 8,802 additions to the watchlist of movie enthusiasts before its theatrical debut on April 26th.

Directed by Luca Guadagnino and featuring Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O’Connor, the film delves into the romantic entanglement among professional tennis players. What I find particularly appealing about certain sports films is their ability to weave narratives beyond sports.

They incorporate elements like romance, adding depth to the storyline.

8. MaXXXine

MaXXXine currently holds the eighth position, with 8,608 watchlist adds on Letterboxd, although its release on Netflix has not yet been confirmed.

Directed by Ti West, this final installment of the trilogy features Mia Goth, Michelle Monaghan, and Elizabeth Debicki in leading roles. The storyline revolves around Maxine as she pursues her ambition of achieving stardom.

Plot Of The Story: (MaXXXine)

Six years after the 'Texas Pornhouse Massacre', Maxine has relocated to Los Angeles and is determined to make a name for herself in the acting industry. However, her aspirations take a dark turn when a series of mysterious deaths occur around her.

Given the movie's synopsis, it appears to draw inspiration from real-life events. Many viewers may relate the storyline to the harsh realities often associated with striving for success in Hollywood.

9. Hit Man

Ranked ninth is "Hit Man," a forthcoming Netflix release with an undisclosed premiere date, boasting 8,118 watchlist adds.

Directed by Richard Linklater and featuring Glen Powell, Adria Arjona, and Retta in starring roles, this comedic thriller-romantic comedy has generated significant anticipation among movie aficionados. The plot revolves around an undercover Houston police officer who assumes the persona of a dependable hit-man.

The film's storyline draws parallels to real-life scenarios. The existence of undercover police officers who can adopt various personas is a reality. Their identities remain hidden, highlighting the importance of refraining from engaging in unlawful activities under the assumption of invisibility.

Overall, "Hit Man" appears to offer an intriguing premise.

10. Kraven the Hunter

The final addition to the list of highly anticipated movies for 2024 is "Kraven the Hunter," which has garnered 6,293 watchlist additions. Directed by J.C.

Chandor and featuring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Russell Crowe, and Ariana DeBose, it is scheduled for release in theaters on August 30th. Fans are looking forward to this dark superhero film. Looks like Kraven the Hunter has a lot of people watching...or should we say "hunting" for his movie? Based on research, it appears that the movie centers around Kraven the Hunter's quest to establish himself as the ultimate hunter in the world.

I believe this film has the potential to motivate viewers to pursue their aspirations and overcome any obstacles on their path.
