In a recent interview on "The View," Chris Evans, the actor renowned for his portrayal of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), addressed the swirling rumors about Marvel Studios' plans to bring back the original Avengers team.

Contrary to speculative reports, Evans clarified that he has not been approached about rejoining the MCU as the iconic superhero. Responding to these rumors, Evans expressed his surprise, stating, "It's news to me." While he isn't averse to the idea of donning the shield again, he emphasized that no discussions have taken place regarding his return.

Evans, who has become synonymous with the character of Steve Rogers/Captain America, stressed the importance of the role, noting that he would only consider a return if it served the character's legacy appropriately. "I'm very protective because it's a precious role, so it would have to be just right," he remarked.

Avengers Reunion Rumors

This clarification from Evans comes on the heels of a Variety report earlier this month, which suggested that Marvel Studios was contemplating a reunion of the original Avengers, including Robert Downey Jr.'

s Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow. The report hinted at the possibility of Evans reprising his role, but also mentioned that Marvel had not yet made a firm decision on this ambitious idea. Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, has since denied that any such discussions have occurred.

As the MCU continues to evolve, several new projects are in the pipeline, including "Brave New World," the upcoming Captain America film. This installment will see Anthony Mackie's character, Sam Wilson, fully assume the Captain America mantle, a role passed down by Steve Rogers.

Amidst various delays altering the release schedule, "Deadpool 3" remains the only MCU film set for release next year. Evans' remarks have certainly stirred the pot among Marvel fans, leaving many to wonder about the future directions of their beloved characters and the potential for nostalgic reunions. As the MCU expands, only time will tell if the original Avengers will once again assemble on the big screen.
