In Memoriam: Burt Young, the "Rocky" Star The passing of actor Burt Young, best known for his role as Paulie Pennino in the iconic film "Rocky," has been confirmed by his daughter, Anne Morea Steingiese. "Rocky," a 1976 cinematic phenomenon, garnered three Oscars, including Best Picture.

Young's portrayal of Paulie Pennino, a loyal friend to the famous boxer and brother to his love interest, earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Burt Young is best known to many for that role, with which he delighted all the fans of this film.

Sylvester Stallone, a close friend and colleague, paid tribute to Young on Instagram, describing him as an incredible man and artist who will be dearly missed. After his death, a large number of messages of condolences followed.

Young left a big mark on all those who knew him. Many describe him as a brave, positive, and honest man who spread positivity. Young's manager, Lynda Bensky, also offered her condolences and emphasized what a great man Young was; “Burt was an actor of tremendous emotional range.

He could make you cry and he could scare you to death. But the real pathos that I experienced was the poignancy of his soul. That’s where it came from”. Born in Queens and raised in Corona, Young began his journey in the Marines at 16 before pursuing a brief boxing career.

He eventually transitioned to acting and studied under Lee Strasberg for two years. With approximately 160 film and television roles to his name, including appearances in "Chinatown" and "Once Upon a Time in America," Burt Young leaves a lasting legacy in the world of entertainment.
This popular actor played a significant role in Last Exit to Brooklyn (1989) and Back to School (1986).
