Emma Corrin Talks 'Deadpool 3' Villain Role, Marvel's Phenomenal Impact

In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, Emma Corrin, known for their breakout role in "The Crown," expressed genuine excitement and curiosity about stepping into a villainous role in the upcoming "Deadpool 3." However, in a classic Marvel fashion, the details of the character are shrouded in mystery.

"I haven't done that, and it's an itch I want to scratch," they said, revealing their enthusiasm to explore a darker character. Director Shawn Levy's interest in Corrin was piqued after seeing them onstage in Virginia Woolf's "Orlando." Corrin admitted that the meeting with Levy was slightly perplexing, with the Marvel project's details kept under wraps.

"I'd heard about the project but, classic Marvel, they couldn't tell me anything about it," they explained. "Absolutely nothing. Zilch. So, I met him being like, 'I don't know what this is about.' "

Corrin's Marvel Universe Exploration

Diving into the Marvel universe is a novel experience for Corrin, who confessed to not being overly familiar with the sprawling superhero franchise.

They mentioned having watched "Spider-Man" and "Black Panther," but needed guidance to navigate the complex Marvel landscape. "It's such an intricate world. There's so much to it. It's an absolute mind-fuck," they said, reflecting on the elaborate connections and hidden references within the universe.

Despite the initial learning curve, Corrin has embraced the role, dedicating time to understanding the character and the Marvel universe's broader context. "I really understand why it means as much as it does to so many people," they observed.

"It's a phenomenon, and I feel really lucky to be part of it, especially Deadpool because I love the fact that it's self-aware, and critical of its own inner workings." "Deadpool 3" marks a significant return for several beloved characters.

Hugh Jackman is set to reprise his role as Wolverine, donning the iconic yellow suit. Production began in London but was halted due to the actors' strike on July 14. The film's star-studded cast also includes Ryan Reynolds as the irreverent antihero, Jennifer Garner in her return as Elektra after nearly 20 years, and "Succession" star Matthew Macfadyen in a yet-to-be-revealed role.

With fans eagerly awaiting the film, Corrin's remarks add to the anticipation, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the world of "Deadpool 3" and their mysterious character. Their evident passion for the project and their new journey into Marvel's interconnected universe serves to heighten the excitement surrounding the film, promising a fresh and unique take on a well-loved franchise.
