Bat-fans may have to hold their breath a little longer as a recent Instagram comment from James Gunn suggests that the casting for the new Caped Crusader won't be occurring anytime soon. The acclaimed filmmaker who successfully guided the Guardians of the Galaxy series responded to a fan’s query regarding Batman casting, by saying it was "miles and miles away."
Muschietti to Helm New DC Film
Earlier this month, it was confirmed that 'The Flash' director, Andy Muschietti, will be directing the upcoming DC movie, 'The Brave and the Bold.'
As yet, no release date for the film has been announced, but the excitement in the DC fandom is palpable. In a joint statement following the announcement, Gunn and producer Peter Safran lauded Muschietti's talent and his passion for the DC Universe.
They emphasized, "We saw 'The Flash' even before taking the reins at DC Studios, and knew we were in the hands of not only a visionary director but a massive DC fan." Their praises continued, "It's a magnificent film – funny, emotional, thrilling – and Andy's affinity and passion for these characters and this world just resonates through every frame.
So, when it came time to find a director for 'The Brave and the Bold', there was really only one choice." Joining the producing team alongside Gunn and Safran is Barbara Muschietti, further cementing an extraordinary team to embark on this thrilling new adventure in the DC Universe.
Damian Wayne's Tale Takes Center Stage
As part of a press conference earlier this year, Gunn revealed a surprising twist for the upcoming film - the introduction of Damian Wayne, Batman's son, to the DC Universe. "This is the story of Damian Wayne, who is Batman's actual son who we didn't know existed for the first eight to ten years of his life.
He was raised as a little murderer and assassin. He's a little son of a bitch. He's my favorite Robin," Gunn shared candidly. The plot, inspired by Grant Morrison's run in the Batman comic books, which Gunn himself expressed as one of his favorites, promises a fresh and exciting perspective on Gotham's Dark Knight.
