In the latest adrenaline-fueled Netflix thriller, "Heart of Stone," Gal Gadot sheds her superhero cloak to don the mantle of a super spy. Unveiling the action-packed trailer at Netflix's Tudum fan festival in São Paulo, Brazil, Gadot stood alongside her co-stars Jamie Dornan and Alia Bhatt to offer a sneak peek into an international espionage thriller that promises a heart-pounding journey across the globe.
In this film, Gadot embodies the character of Rachel Stone, an intelligence operative employed by a secretive international peacekeeping organization. Stone is seen undertaking high-octane stunts, such as skydiving from hair-raising altitudes.
Her life of danger and adventure is encapsulated in her boss's (played by Sophie Okonedo) warning, explaining the all-encompassing gravity of her job: she must lead a solitary life for the greater good of world peace. This organization, known as 'the Charter,' is the last line of defense when governments crumble, fielding agents like Stone and Dornan's Parker who have no political affiliations, only a united front against global unrest.
Dhawan's Heist Ignites Global Chase
However, the world hangs in the balance when Keya Dhawan (played by Bollywood superstar Alia Bhatt in her first significant Hollywood role) – a cunning hacker – steals the agency's most powerful and dangerous asset: a technological core that is the 'heart' of the Charter.
A globe-trotting quest ensues as Stone fights to recover the stolen device, clear her name, and thwart Dhawan's plans. Gadot, in her character's chilling promise to Dhawan, declares, "Heart or no heart, I'm coming for you." The film, scripted by Greg Rucka and Allison Schroeder and directed by Tom Harper, features awe-inspiring action sequences set in picturesque locales from the snowy Alps to the bustling streets of Lisbon.
The narrative is laden with thrilling moments, including a motorcycle chase and Gadot's Rachel Stone engaging in dangerous stunts mid-air. The movie also serves as a testament to Gadot's action-star mettle, honed through "Wonder Woman" roles and the "Fast and Furious" franchise.
Besides her performance, Gadot is credited as a film producer with her husband, Jaron Varsano, under their Pilot Wave banner and producers from Skydance and Mockingbird Pictures. Slated for a streaming release on Netflix on August 11, "Heart of Stone" marks another collaboration between Netflix and Skydance.
The partnership has previously delivered popular titles such as "The Old Guard," "6 Underground", and "The Adam Project." As a star with strong ties to the streaming giant, Gadot is also confirmed to appear in the upcoming sequels to the blockbuster hit "Red Notice." You can watch the trailer below:
