The long-awaited film by Greta Gerwig, "Barbie and Ken," starring Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, is set to release this summer. The second trailer of the film gives a glimpse of the movie's plot and has created buzz among the audience, especially about the character of Ken played by Ryan Gosling.

Sneak Peek into the Pink Barbie World

The trailer showcases the iconic "pink Barbie world," including the dream house, convertible, and the love story between Barbie and Ken. Along with the lead actors, the supporting cast includes Sima Liu, Will Ferrell, Ncuti Gatwa, Michael Cera, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, and Kate McKinnon, who play alternate versions of Barbie and Ken.

For instance, Mermaid Barbie is played by Dua Lipa.

Controversial Character of Ken

However, what has caught the attention of the viewers is the appearance and character of Ken, played by Ryan Gosling. Despite the film's plot, showcasing the world of the beloved doll, many fans were not thrilled with the character of Ken and took to social media to express their criticism.

Some thought that Gosling was too old for the role, while others felt that his blond hair did not suit him. Many fans agreed that Ryan Gosling reminded them too much of the famous American host Ellen DeGeneres. One fan wrote, "Y’all gonna jump me if I say Ryan Gosling kinda look like Ellen in that Barbie trailer? cause if so I DIDNT SAY THAT!" while another wrote, "Is that Ellen?" Critics blasted the decision to cast Ryan Gosling in a typically youthful role and made jokes about the need for Ken to get Botox.

One fan wrote, "Ryan Gosling looks fake old in the Barbie trailer," and another penned, "is it just me or does Ryan Gosling look more older in the Barbie movie trailer???? + the blonde is doing him dirty." Another fan described Ryan Gosling's appearance as an "aging generous Palm Springs daddy." Fans were not impressed with the actor's appearance, with many feeling that he looked too old for the role.

The film is based on Mattel's Barbie fashion dolls and is the first feature film about Barbie to appear on the big screen. Greta Gerwig co-wrote the script with her husband Noah Baumbach.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 21.
