"Italia's Got Talent" Welcomes TikTok Sensation Khaby Lame to its Jury

Khaby Lame, the most-followed TikToker, is set to join the jury of the popular Italian talent show, "Italia's Got Talent." The upcoming edition of the show has recently made a transition from pay-TV operator Sky to Disney+ in Italy, marking the first time the Fremantle format will be streamed on a European platform.

A Rise to Fame on TikTok

Lame rose to fame in 2020 after creating a profile on the social media platform TikTok. With over 154 million followers, he has become the most popular TikToker to date. According to an interview with Fortune, Lame's manager, Alessandro Riggio, revealed that the TikToker can earn up to $750,000 per post, with most of his income coming from advertising brands on his profile.

Riggio explains that Lame is not motivated by money. “He was poor, and he doesn’t know how much he has in the bank. He doesn’t care about—”

An Indication of Social Media Stars' Importance in the Film Industry

Lame's inclusion in the jury of "Italia's Got Talent" is not his first engagement in the entertainment industry.

Last year, he was a member of the TikTok Short Film jury at the Cannes Film Festival, indicating the growing importance of social media stars in the film industry.

An Eclectic Jury

Alongside Lame, the 2023 edition of "Italia's Got Talent" will feature pop singer and TV personality Elettra Lamborghini, record-producer-turned-TV personality Mara Maionchi, and Italian-American comedian, actor, and YouTuber Frank Matano as jury members.

The show will be hosted by comedians Aurora and Fru, who are members of The Jackal, a group of Neapolitan comics who gained popularity on YouTube. Auditions for the show have already begun in Avellino, near Naples. The addition of TikTok sensation Khaby Lame to the jury of "Italia's Got Talent" is a testament to the growing influence of social media stars in the entertainment industry.

The show promises to be a spectacular event, with an eclectic mix of judges and hosts, as well as talented participants from across Italy.
