Matthew McConaughey Brings Elvis Presley to Life in Upcoming Netflix Animated Series

The King of Rock and Roll is back, and this time he's taking on a new role - that of a secret agent. Netflix's latest animated series "Agent Elvis" brings the iconic singer to life through the voice of Academy Award-winner Matthew Mcconaughey.

The series is set to premiere on the streaming platform in March and promises to deliver a thrilling new adventure for fans of the King.

Executive Produced by Priscilla Presley, Head Written by Mike Arnold of "Archer"

The show is executive produced by Priscilla Presley, and its head writer is none other than Mike Arnold of the popular animated series "Archer." The creative minds behind the project have collaborated to bring to life a unique and captivating take on the King's legacy, set against the backdrop of a spy thriller.

A Tribute to Elvis Presley, A Year After "Elvis"

"Agent Elvis" comes as a tribute to the King of Rock and Roll, who passed away in 1977, less than a year after the release of the blockbuster film "Elvis." Directed by Baz Luhrmann, the film starred Austin Butler as Elvis Presley and picked up several Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, and more.

Butler received recognition for his role, taking home the Best Actor award at the Golden Globes in January.

A New Elvis-Related Project in the Works for Sofia Coppola

Fans of the King's legacy will have even more to look forward to, as another Elvis-related project is in the works.

Acclaimed filmmaker Sofia Coppola is slated to write and direct the upcoming film adaptation of Priscilla Presley's 1985 memoir Elvis and Me. In a recent GQ cover story, the actor touched on the topic of Elvis, saying “I was just like, damn, Elvis Presley wanted to be James Dean.

He wanted to be Marlon Brando. I’ve researched almost every actor from that time period, and I passed [Elvis] off as an entertainer and singer. But then he was an actor. I guess, in a way, I’m trying to learn from these people.

Because I obviously don’t have any friends that have been through the same thing, really, so they’re almost like guiding beacons”. Tragically, the King's only daughter with Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie Presley, died unexpectedly at the age of 54 in January, making the release of "Agent Elvis" all the more poignant.

With the show set to premiere in March, fans can look forward to a thrilling new adventure featuring the King, whose music and legacy continue to live on.
