Tom Hanks, the veteran actor in Hollywood, is all set to rejuvenate his appearance in the upcoming film "Here", and he will be aided by the cutting-edge technology of artificial intelligence. The film is being directed by none other than Robert Zemeckis, who has already collaborated with Hanks in numerous projects including "Cast Away", "Forrest Gump" and "The Polar Express".
Metaphysic, an artificial intelligence company, has joined hands with the US talent agency CAA to bring this innovative technology to the big screen. The company has introduced a new generative tool known as Metaphysic Live, which is based on artificial intelligence and offers photorealistic high-resolution face changes and aging effects.
AI Aids Film-Making
The director, Zemeckis, chose this innovative approach as he did not want to have any additional actors on the set who would play the younger versions of the main characters. He believes that this new technology will bring a more realistic touch to the film.
“I’ve always been attracted to technology that helps me to tell a story,” Zemeckis said in a statement, reports Variety. “With ‘Here,’ the film simply wouldn’t work without our actors seamlessly transforming into younger versions of themselves.
Metaphysic’s AI tools do exactly that, in ways that were previously impossible! Having tested every flavor of face replacement and de-aging technology available today, Metaphysic are clearly the global leaders in feature-quality AI content and the perfect choice for this incredibly challenging, emotional film”.
Joanna Popper, the chief Metaverse officer at CAA, spoke highly of the partnership between Metaphysic and CAA. She believes that artificial intelligence has the potential to revolutionize content creation and intellectual property.
“Metaphysic are industry leaders in using generative AI and machine learning to create photorealistic Hollywood-quality content, combined with their ethics-first approach and thought leadership they unlock an incredible opportunity for the entertainment industry and beyond,” said Popper. “CAA has always been at the forefront of new technological frontiers and we are excited to work with Metaphysic in bringing the most exciting opportunities to our clients and the industry”.
The film "Here" is based on the graphic novel by Richard McGuire and revolves around the life of the occupants of a single room over the course of several years. Along with Hanks, Robin Wright will also play a lead role in the film.
The collaboration between Tom Hanks, Robert Zemeckis, Metaphysic, and CAA promises to bring a never-seen-before visual experience to the audiences with the help of artificial intelligence technology.
