Tom Hanks Shocked by Multiple Nominations for Golden Raspberry Awards

Tom Hanks, the celebrated actor known for his critically acclaimed performances, was reportedly taken aback upon learning of his three nominations for the Golden Raspberry Awards. These awards often referred to as the "Razzies", are bestowed upon the worst film achievements of the year.

Despite Hanks' "Elvis" film being a contender in the Oscar race, he has been shortlisted for the Golden Raspberry Awards for his roles as Presley's manager, Colonel Tom Parker, in "Elvis" and Geppetto in Disney's remake of "Pinocchio."

Critically Panned Performances

While "Elvis" and its lead actor Austin Butler were largely praised by critics, Hanks' portrayal of Colonel Tom Parker, who was portrayed as exploitative, was met with widespread criticism.

The organizers of the Golden Raspberry Awards, in their announcement, even went as far as to label Hanks' role in the film as "the most ridiculed performance of 2022." Hanks was also nominated in the category of "worst movie couple" for his role in "Elvis."

"Pinocchio" and "Blondie" among Worst Film Nominees

In addition to Hanks' multiple nominations, "Pinocchio" has also been nominated for "worst film" at the annual Golden Raspberry Awards.

The film will be competing against the controversial Marilyn Monroe biopic "Blondie," as well as actor Jared Leto and the movie "Morbius."

An Embarrassment for the Razzies

The Golden Raspberry Awards, which traditionally take place the day before the Oscars, are often seen as a tongue-in-cheek mocking of the film industry.

However, the organizers of the awards were left embarrassed last year, after they jokingly created a new category called "Bruce Willis' Worst Performance in a 2021 Movie," to accommodate all the allegedly bad performances of actor Willis.
