Fans of "Witcher" were shaken yesterday by the news that the main actor of the series, Henry Cavill, will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth in the fourth season. Cavill will continue to play Geralt of Rivia in the upcoming third season of the hit series, before handing over the role to Hemsworth.
Netflix announced the news on Saturday (October 29), sharing statements from both Cavill and Hemsworth.

Some even threatened to boycott "The Witcher" because of this. "Boycott 'Witcher' to get Henry back," wrote one disappointed fan. In a series of posts in which viewers threatened to boycott, they wrote that the production "shouldn't replace Cavill with Liam claiming it's funny".
"Being a fan of The Witcher is like constant law of surprise except it's so so much more worse in every way imaginable (sic)," and another one said, "boycott the witcher someone bring henry back (sic)." Also, social networks were soon flooded with hilarious memes depicting fans' disappointment at the change.
Cavill issued a statement to fans reacting to his announced departure
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,” Cavill said in a statement.
“In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.
Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find”. “As a Witcher fan I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia,” Hemsworth said.
“Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure. Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world”.
