Nearly two months after his death, Sam Rubin's official cause of death has been shared. Rubin died from "ischemic heart disease due to atherosclerotic coronary artery", where well as the manner was natural, according to autopsies performed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner. The beloved entertainment reporter also died of the medical emergency on May 10 in an adult ward at a nearby hospital after experiencing terrible stomach cramps that morning.

His doctor told him to go the hospital immediately, so Rubin dialled 911 -- and hours later, was dead. The medical examiner initially called his death natural.

KTLA Mourns Rubin

For nearly three decades at KTLA, Rubin was a fixture of Los Angeles morning television.

KTLA broke the news of his death on-air and in a post to X (formerly Twitter), declaring KTLA 5 is absolutely gutted to report that Sam Rubin has died. Sam Rubin was a titan of local news and the entertainment world and had been a fixture on Los Angeles morning television for decades.

His laughter, charisma and ease were a special magic to those around him. Sam was a devoted husband and father, roles he took great comfort in. Our thoughts are with Sam's family at this time. His longtime manager, Jamie Gruttemeyer, told PEOPLE in a statement back in May that "Morning news will never be the same.

For all of us, losing Sam is kind of like losing a beloved family friend... so dependable when you needed cheering up... always welcome at your house.... never without good cheer to see everyone. Sam will be forever missed." Rubin is survived by his wife, Leslie and their four children, among them a teenaged son, Colby.

Colby choked up in his tribute: "I love you so much. I hope you heard me say that on the day of your demise, You were the kindest soul. You were the light of every room. You know that I can't exist without you — he voiced.

You were always everything to me." The community is grieving, and Rubin's impact as an entertainment titan will forever be punctuated by his place in the hearts of family.
