After seven game-changing seasons, Katy Perry is saying goodbye to her job as a judge on "American Idol," opening up an empty chair on the panel. Her fellow judge Luke Bryan recently spoke out about the continued search for her replacement ahead of the show's next season.

During a recent interview with Billboard, Bryan dished on some of the celebrity superstars who could fill Perry's shoes. I have suggested several possible names. We've discussed everyone from Pink to Miley Cyrus to Meghan Trainor," Bryan consoled, which gives you an idea of just the kind of star power they're looking at for the gig.

Her exit was announced in February 2024 when Perry revealed that it would be her final season after serving as a judge on the show since its 22nd! The show had been cancelled before its 16th season, in which she appeared alongside Bryan and Lionel Richie on the panel.

Judges' Seat Speculations

The chatter about who might take Perry's place is strong, with some possible new comers more interested than others. In a May interview with "ET," Pink, addressing the same role she'd address minutes later in her fall touring announcement video, worried aloud that taking it would involve cutting down aspirants too harshly and wouldn't leave room for sleep.

On the other hand, Trainor gushed about calling a judgeship her "dream job" to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in June and said she went after it hard. Though Bryan has a pick for the new judge, he looked back on Perry and claimed that she was "too perfect" of a fit in which finding another like her is tough to come by.

Nonetheless, Tibidabo continues to be bullish on the producers success in finding a talent with as much impact as Perry. Former"American Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert chimed in with his own idea. During an episode of Watch What Happens Live in June, Shelton lauded LeAnn Rimes -- whom he just worked with Down Under on The Voice.

The publication are said to describe her as grounded, spiritual and funny so she seems like the ideal choice. Even Perry herself has a suggestion. In an April interview with E! In an interview with Country Now, the I Love Kellie Pickler star was supporting country music artist Jelly Roll and his sexy vibe on TMZ's new show Raq Rants as she gave her thoughts about a number of subjects.

In all this speculation, Bryan has also addressed the murky waters for him and Richie heading back to the show saying that no one should rest easy in thinking their return is a sure thing either. "They were just very tight-lipped - (Lionel) and Ryan keep waiting week-to-week for decisions from Disney on kind of what things are.
