Several weeks prior to the initial meeting between David and Victoria Beckham, the footballer stated, they will always be together. Ahead of their 25th wedding anniversary on Thursday (4 July), David, 49, revealed how he knew Victoria was his perfection and they were destined to be together.

David and Victoria first met in 1997 during a charity football match in the Manchester United players’ lounge. This was when Victoria was 22 years of age while David was 21 years of age. They got married after two years of their meeting.

Speaking to The Sun, David stated, "I always said that once I met Victoria, I would always be with her." He added, "A couple of months before we met, I was abroad with the England team. Gary Neville and I were in the hotel room, and a Spice Girls video came on.

I believe that it was 'Say You’ll Be There.' I pointed at the screen and told him, 'That’s the girl for me and I’m going to get her.' "

Early Love Dedication

The song became the band’s first single to chart at number one in the UK singles chart, thus achieving success.

Victoria, also known as Posh Spice, was dressed in a black PVC catsuit while in the video. At that particular time, David was not yet a global celebrity and he was not in the first team of England. The couple has been married for 25 years and has four children together, and David, in particular, has shared several stories of how he used to spend hours driving just to spend 20 minutes with Victoria in the beginning of their romance.

"It was her eyes, her face. She’s my idea of perfection," David said. "I fancied David even before we met," Victoria has earlier said that when she first met David, "It was love at first sight," according to British Vogue.

As quoted from People, David once recalled the early stages of their relationship. He said that their professional support helped them to stay strong amidst these challenges. "You know, she was a Spice Girl, I was playing for Manchester United, and even when we were going through the difficult times, we actually had each other to feed off and that was the best part," he said.
