Kevin Costner, renowned for his iconic role in Yellowstone, is now facing the high stakes of his latest cinematic venture, Horizon: An American Saga. During the making and particularly releasing the film, Costner who not only acted in but also co-wrote and largely financed this grandiose Western series, feels the pressure of expectation linked to the box-office results.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Costner himself discusses his rather complex emotions as to the movie’s release. "I’ve lived with movies and what happens to them on their opening weekend," he continues.

"If we put so much pressure on that, we’re bound to be disappointed." His rationale means orientation at the higher concept of the art of Horizon, and its value in the long run rather than in sales. "I’m really happy that Horizon looks like what it’s supposed to look like, and that’s the way it’ll look the rest of its life.

And that’s really important to me in this process.", he confirms.

Nevertheless, Costner does not have his eyes on the prize; instead, he is realistic about the success of the movie. "Would I love that it would be highly, highly successful? Of course, I’d like that.

My ego would like that; everyone would like that. But I am happiest that the movie that you and I are talking about looks the way I want it to look," he mused. Another dramatic twist to his career is that Costner has recently revealed that he is exiting Yellowstone.

The move comes as a major turning point for the actor who has gained massive fame through the show and the role he plays, John Dutton. He said, "After this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that is required, and thinking about Yellowstone, that beloved series that I love, that I know you love, I just realized that I am not going to be able to continue season 5B or into the future." The saddest announcement from Costner is the end of a showing that changed his career path.

"It was something that really changed me," he said, "I loved it. And I know you loved it. And I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning, and I love the relationship we’ve been able to develop, and I’ll see you at the movies”.
