The star Irish actor who is remembered for his role in "Normal People," Paul Mescal, came in separately at the event of Gucci Men's fashion show unfolding during Milan Fashion Week Menswear for Spring/Summer 2025. He turned his eyes at Triennale di Milano, Italy, on June 17 with this very bold choice of dress for the event.

Mescal was attired in a light blue long-sleeve button-down shirt with rolled-up sleeves that he paired with cream-coloured boxers striped in design. Indeed, his outfit did show the contrast between comfortable dressing and dressed-down casual style, only still with an avant-garde twist.

He completed the black dress shoes and socks, further solidifying his case for experimental dressing. It has been said that Mescal's love for short shorts forms part of his fashion identity, and so he never fails to turn heads in public.

In an October 2022 conversation with "Interview Magazine," with his former "Lost Daughter" co-star Dakota Johnson participating, Mescal referred to his shorts as "the most ridiculous things on planet earth." To his surprise, however, Johnson loved the appearance and told him to sport those, along with thigh-high boots and a beret, an overall getup by contemporary wardrobe designers.

Mescal's Shirtless Impact

But more than his particular mannerisms, Mescal's physicality has entrenched his career thus far. It was July 2023 when Daria Cercek, co-head of Paramount Pictures, confirmed to "Variety" just how much the shirtless performance by Mescal in the "A Streetcar Named Desire" production weighed on her mind when deciding whether or not to cast him for "Gladiator 2.".

According to Cercek, he couldn't avoid the visceral response of the audience to Mescal when the latter revealed his body on stage, and that cemented the deal for them about Mescal as Lucius, the son of the character Lucilla from the first "Gladiator" film directed by Ridley Scott.

In an interview with "The Hollywood Reporter" in February, Mescal revealed he never auditioned for his role in "Gladiator 2." What worked on his behalf was Scott's appeal upon meeting with him, insinuating that the director had massive faith in being able to get into character.

One of the most highly anticipated releases is "Gladiator 2," which hits theaters on November 22. Having positioned himself to strive for more daring fashion choices, from style on the red carpet to making statements, it has turned his head in performance; he has positioned himself in quite a solid place to be reckoned with in cinematic and fashion circles alike.
