Céline Dion, the 56-year-old Canadian singer, has been battling a progressive illness that has caused her problems for years. What may delight her fans is that during the premiere of her documentary 'I'm Céline Dion,' she greeted the audience herself.

Her fans worldwide will be able to see it on June 25 when it begins streaming on the Amazon Prime platform. Céline Dion described it as a love letter to her fans, detailing her struggle and strength of spirit.

When she appeared on stage, Céline Dion received a standing ovation from the audience, a reaction that moved her to tears, causing her 23-year-old son René-Charles to come on stage and bring her a tissue to wipe her tears.

Céline Dion thanked everyone present who decided to come to the premiere, emphasizing that nothing would have been possible without her doctor, Amanda Piquet, and director Irene Taylor Brodsky. The popular singer expressed gratitude to her children, who have been by her side since day one. They have been her biggest support since the first symptoms of the illness and through the difficult battle. Since the confirmation of her diagnosis, Dion has received massive support from fans around the world.

"Thank you everyone, I can't believe I'm here with you tonight. None of this would have been possible without my doctor, Dr. Amanda Piquet, and director Irene Taylor Brodsky. But the most important support for me has been my wonderful sons, who have showered me with attention and love every day. So, thank you René-Charles, thank you Nelson, and thank you Eddy. Without you, my life would have no meaning," said Céline Dion.

Her husband, René Angélil, passed away eight years ago after battling throat cancer. During that period, Céline Dion was experiencing symptoms of a neurological degenerative disorder, stiff person syndrome. Because of this, Dion had to change her plans and postpone concerts. Stiff person syndrome is a rare progressive autoimmune disease that affects one in a million people, with initial symptoms of stiffness and spasms that intensify over time and manifest in cycles with varying frequency.

Stiff person syndrome is a rare progressive autoimmune disease affecting one in a million people, with initial symptoms of stiffness and spasms intensifying over time and manifesting in cycles of varying frequency.

Céline Dion, like anyone battling a severe illness, struggled to accept such a condition, especially given her long-standing presence in the music scene and her inability to imagine life without music. In interviews, she has often highlighted how difficult it is to get used to life without concerts, tours, and everything else that comes with it.

Dion admitted that she is doing everything possible to save her voice and return to her audience. She acknowledged that it is hard to predict what the future holds, given that such an illness can be unpredictable, making it difficult to determine its course and what might lie ahead. What can comfort her loved ones and fans is the huge desire and passion Dion has for recovery and returning to the big stage. Even if the illness defeats her in some aspects, Dion has admitted that she will never give up the fight.

"I will do everything to save my voice, but what will ultimately happen is no longer solely up to me. We work hard every day and rejoice at every positive step, but everything is still uncertain. But one thing I know: if I can't run, I'll walk; if I can't walk, I'll crawl... but I will never stop," stated Céline Dion.

The death of her husband left a huge mark on her

As we mentioned, her husband battled throat cancer and had difficult moments year after year. The fight with cancer rapidly worsened, and René passed away on January 14, 2016, at the age of 74. The public was left speechless when Céline wrote on her page that her husband had died in her arms because that was how he wanted to die.

Throughout her career, Dion faced many challenges, and building a career from a young age was not an easy task. All of this has left its mark on her. Being a popular music figure is not simple. Large concerts, traveling, stress, and everything that this life brings may seem ideal to many, but at times, it is far from that. Dion has faced a lot of trials in life, but she has always strived to rise and appear victorious. However, it seems that her husband's death had the greatest impact on her. This appears to be the moment that changed the course of her life. Dion has emphasized multiple times how important he was in her life.
