Hunter Schafer will star opposite the incomparable Michelle Yeoh in the new Prime Video series "Blade Runner 2099." The show is a sequel to the iconic sci-fi franchise and will further explore the dystopian world first seen in Ridley Scott's classic "Blade Runner." Schafer, most famous now for her breakout role as Jules Vaughn in HBO's "Euphoria," is rapidly ascending the ranks in Hollywood, revealed varieties.

She's just landed roles in some significant projects - "The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes" and Tilman Singer's horror film, "Cuckoo." First, she revealed her acting skills on the runways as a model, then on-screen with the genuine, accurate role of a transgender high school student.

"Blade Runner 2099" is written and shown by Silka Luisa of "Shining Girls." The first two episodes are directed by Jonathan van Tulleken of "Shogun." Ridley Scott is also back as executive producer and is joined by a formidable team consisting of Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, Isa Dick Hackett, and many more.

Euphoria's Delayed Return

The news about Schafer's casting comes at a turbulent time for "Euphoria," as the show is experiencing some delays. Sam Levinson, the show's creator, reassesses the direction for its third season.

The redevelopments will involve a time jump in the storyline so that the characters go beyond their high school years. A hopeful return has been projected to be by the year 2025. Away from acting, Schafer is a committed campaigner for LGBTQ+ rights whose activism has extended to challenging North Carolina's much-criticized HB2 lawmaking.

She made the headlines once more recently when she was arrested in New York City while protesting- something that has now happened to her on several occasions and remains a committed social activist. While "Blade Runner 2099" still doesn't have a release date, it would be the first live-action "Blade Runner"-universe episode since the 2017 sequel "Blade Runner 2049".

Now, every fan of this franchise and every newbie is waiting for this new chapter to expand the already mystical world Ridley Scott first introduced in 1982.
