Usher and his wife, Jennifer Goicoechea, turned an awards night into a special date at the Apollo Theater Spring Benefit in New York City. The acclaimed R&B singer, aged 45, was the center of attention as he was honored with the prestigious icon award.

The couple, who wed in February, showcased their bond by arriving hand-in-hand and sharing loving glances on the red carpet. Dressed impeccably, Usher wore a burgundy suit with distinctively flared pants, complementing Jennifer’s chic black mini dress adorned with a black and white patterned top.

Her outfit was accentuated with a sparkling black and silver purse. The event was not just a celebration of Usher's illustrious career but also a family affair, as he and Jennifer are parents to young Sovereign Bo and Sire Castrello, while Usher also co-parents older sons Usher V and Naviyd with ex-wife Tameka Foster.

Usher's Loving Tribute

In his heartfelt acceptance speech, Usher expressed profound gratitude towards his supporters and dedicated a touching tribute to his wife, Jennifer, calling her his best friend and thanking her for her unwavering support.

He humorously hinted at hoping for a reciprocal show of affection on the upcoming Father’s Day, following a wonderful Mother’s Day celebration together. The Apollo Theater, a beacon of African-American culture and music, announced Usher as one of this year’s honorees back in April.

Usher, feeling humbled, acknowledged the significance of the award, recognizing the Apollo as a pivotal platform that has supported many legendary artists. The celebration also honored music industry giant Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds with the inaugural legacy award and featured performances from notable artists like Jordin Sparks and Johnny Gill.

Babyface, a 12-time Grammy winner, was also celebrated with an induction into the Apollo's esteemed Walk of Fame. Looking ahead, Usher is preparing for a busy year. He will soon be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 BET Awards, recognizing his contributions to music alongside past legends like Prince and Whitney Houston.

His musical journey continues with the release of his album "Coming Home" and a standout Super Bowl halftime performance earlier this year. Usher is set to embark on his Past Present Future tour starting in Atlanta, and he will also headline a special show at the ESSENCE Festival of Culture in New Orleans to mark the 20th anniversary of his iconic Confessions album.
