After gracing the screens in two exhilarating Mission: Impossible installments, Jeremy Renner unveils why he decided to skip his third venture into the franchise. Speaking candidly on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with host Josh Horowitz, Renner disclosed that the time commitment demanded for filming clashed with his responsibilities as a father to his young daughter.

He emphasized that being away for an extended period wasn't feasible for him during that phase of his life. However, his interest further waned upon discovering that his character, IMF agent William Brandt, was scheduled for termination after just one week of filming.

"I remember they tried to bring me overseas for a week just to kill off my character, and I was like, 'No, you don’t get to do that. You're not going to drag me over there and just kill my character,'" Renner expressed assertively during the podcast.

"If you're going to use my character, you're going to do it right."

Renner's Willingness to Return

Renner's sentiments echo his recent remarks to Collider, where he elaborated on his willingness to reconsider joining the Mission: Impossible ensemble now that his daughter is older.

He shared his affection for the cast, particularly his admiration for Tom Cruise, and expressed his fondness for the character of Brandt. "I love those guys. I love Tom so much. We had so much fun, and I love that character a lot," Renner affirmed.

"Maybe now that my daughter is older, that could happen. I'd always jump into a Mission: Impossible anytime and back into Brandt. It's great." Renner's openness about his past reservations and current readiness to reprise his role not only sheds light on the complexities of balancing career demands with family responsibilities but also underscores the enduring allure of the Mission: Impossible series.

As fans eagerly await the franchise's next installment, Renner's potential return adds an intriguing layer to the anticipation surrounding the action-packed saga.
