Sophie Turner has recently opened up about her breakup with Joe Jonas and the torments she went through over the course of their four-year marriage in a candid interview with British Vogue. The "Game of Thrones" actress opened up about personal and public parts of their love affair, which continued bringing torment before it finally ended.

In her chat with the magazine, Turner pointed out her frustration of having always been associated and not seen what she is but just one of "the wives," a term generally applied to the spouses of the Jonas Brothers. This label of association made her feel like she was an accessory to the band and individuality be damned.

"It was more of this plus-one feeling," Turner explained, noting further that she was bothered by the way the public perceived her situation, not by Joe Jonas's treatment of her. The 28-year-old, who rose to fame playing Sansa Stark in the popular HBO series, said her marriage to the 34-year-old musician felt like a "fever dream." She said that even though Jonas looked out for her a great deal, it created an infantilizing dynamic and that post-divorce, she didn't know what to do with herself.

"It was to the point that I came back home and didn't know how to do anything for myself," she admitted.

The British actress also spoke of how the press pursued the couple and particularly so when their marriage ended.

"The worst few days of my life," Turner remembered, were made even harder by her work schedule, which meant she was on the other side of the Atlantic from her two young children. She was shooting another project at that time, bound by the contract to stay on set for two weeks more, unable to respond immediately to her own crisis.

This revelation has followed Turner appearing on the cover page of British Vogue's June issue, in which she hopes her story can reach others who find themselves in a similar situation. The interview denotes the personal implications of the public persona and the interplay of the complex functions of celebrity marriages.

The interview in British Vogue indicates how not only Turner's personal development after a divorce is symbolized but also her steady work at reinventing herself under a new, post-marriage identity.
