Los Angeles was truly the city for comedy, with a packed house at Hollywood Bowl to kick off Netflix is a Joke. Iconic comic Jerry Seinfeld, with Jim Gaffigan, Nate Bargatze, and Sebastian Maniscalco, shared top billing for the evening and brought a full house to its feet for the better part of the night.

Seinfeld said it was one of the best nights of his life, being with his friends in comedy. The audience had one of the rarest treats when the four comedians went on stage together. "Thank you, Hollywood!" Seinfeld shouted, setting the tone for a night of laughter and camaraderie.

He humorously remarked on their collective availability, "How is it none of us had a gig?" In other words, the format of the show was a lively, round-robin series of comedic styles; each comedian doing a 30-minute set, thus bringing out their different comedy styles.

The order of their sets was brought out in a random fashion, thus adding a flair of spontaneity to the night. Maniscalco opened, Bargatze followed, then Gaffigan, and finally, Seinfeld basking in closing the show.

Comedic Personal Revelations

Maniscalco's set delved into the realities of aging and family life with turning 50 and raising young children.

Bargatze's performance included tales from his past job as a water meter reader and humorous stories involving his magician father. Gaffigan, known for his observational humor, touched on his recent weight loss, candidly discussing his use of weight management medication and dismissing critics who deem it unfair.

"I'm not playing Major League Baseball; I'm just a fat guy trying not to die," he quipped, reflecting on the temporary nature of his slimmed-down appearance. Seinfeld, embracing his role as the evening's anchor, brought his classic observational wit to topics like marriage, golf, and the limits of artificial intelligence in comedy writing.

"I like AI, but it can't write this. You need a certain amount of dumb for comedy, and that's a gift," he joked. As the theme song from Seinfeld's new movie "Unfrosted" played, the night at the Hollywood Bowl affirmed the enduring appeal of these comedy heavyweights.

They are set to return for another round of performances, promising another evening of unparalleled humor and entertainment at the Netflix is a Joke festival.
