Ryan Gosling, the star of the critically acclaimed and Oscar-nominated film "La La Land," recently expressed a desire to revisit one specific scene from the 2016 musical hit. In a revealing video interview with WSJ Magazine, Gosling shared a candid reflection on a particular moment during a dance sequence with co-star Emma Stone, which unintentionally became the iconic image of the film's promotional poster.

Despite the film's immense success, including a record-tying 14 Oscar nominations, Gosling harbors regrets about his choice of gesture during a pivotal dance scene. “There’s a moment that haunts me where we're dancing, Emma and I.

I didn’t know this would become the poster for the movie," Gosling confessed. He described his decision to position his hand at a flat angle, a choice he thought would appear 'cool' at the time, contrary to the traditional upward gesture typically used in dance.

Gosling's Regretful Gesture

Reflecting on the consequences of his choice, Gosling humorously labeled his gesture as "La La Hand," a nod to the film's title. He lamented that the pose "killed the energy" of the scene and expressed his dissatisfaction with the now famous image.

"Now when I look at it and I have to see it all the time, you know what would have been cooler than this? That," he remarked, indicating the more traditional gesture. Adding a light-hearted twist to his reflection, Gosling acknowledged a term used by dancers for an awkward hand gesture, "hamburger hands." Despite his prior dance experience, he admitted that he was unaware of the term until after the film, jokingly referring to himself as "Hamburger Hands Gosling." Gosling also delved into his personal life and career choices in the interview, discussing how his roles are influenced by his family dynamics with Eva Mendes and their children.

He emphasized the importance of choosing projects that maintain a positive atmosphere at home, revealing that "La La Land" was selected with his family's enjoyment in mind. "This moment is what I feel like trying to read the room at home and feel like what is going to be best for all of us," Gosling shared.

The interview not only provides a glimpse into Gosling's reflections on his "La La Land" experience but also sheds light on his thoughtful approach to balancing his professional and personal life.
