Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi has reflected on his past relationships in the longest marriage with Dorothea Hurley in the candid interview of the special "Halfway There" of ABC, conducted by Michael Strahan. The two started going out in high school, and they were joined as man and wife in a wedding chapel in Las Vegas in 1989.

Revered for his magnetic stage performance and a catalog sprinkled with records like "It's My Life" and "Always," Bon Jovi has often been cast in the archetype of s-x symbol. Strahan probed into how Bon Jovi, who married relatively young, handled the pressures of his public persona alongside his personal commitments.

Responding with a mix of humor and honesty, Bon Jovi admitted, “I got away with murder. I’m a rock 'n' roll star. I’m not a saint,” acknowledging the presence of numerous women in his life before marriage.

However, he was quick to clarify that his actions never threatened his marriage, emphasizing the importance of not jeopardizing his home life for fleeting pleasures.

Balancing Stardom

Bon Jovi’s approach to dealing with the temptations that come with rock stardom has been to maintain a balance and not lose sight of what truly matters.

“What kind of excess does a man need that’s going to fuel that fire? It’s just not worth it,” he remarked, dismissing the narcissistic allure that fame often brings. His reflections during the interview echo sentiments he has expressed previously about the challenges and sacrifices of maintaining a family while leading one of the biggest rock bands in the world.

He has openly admitted to not being a saint, citing missed birthdays and school plays as some of the personal costs of his career. Despite these challenges, Bon Jovi and Hurley have managed to sustain their relationship, recently celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary.

Their enduring partnership began in a New Jersey high school and, aside from a brief split in 1985 during which Bon Jovi dated actor Diane Lane, has been a constant through the decades. The couple’s journey and commitment to each other, despite the rock and roll lifestyle, is highlighted in songs like “Bed of Roses,” where Bon Jovi laments his past indiscretions. Today, Bon Jovi and Hurley have four children together: Stephanie, Jesse, Jake, and Romeo.
