Ricky Martin is all set to make history by headlining his first-ever Pride event at 2024 LA Pride in the Park. The Christopher Street West Association (CSW) announced that the highly awarded 52-year-old performer will be the festival's centerpiece on June 8, making Martin the first openly gay Latin artist to headline the iconic celebration.

An ecstatic Martin noted, "I'm very thrilled to headline LA Pride in the Park because it's an amazing opportunity to celebrate love, diversity, and equality." He noted that LA Pride is a way to foster community, visibility, and advocacy for rights, all of which he deeply believes in.

Martin's Humanitarian Impact

A father of four who came out publicly in 2010, Martin has not only achieved accolades like multiple GRAMMYs but also been a loud voice in humanitarian efforts. He fights human trafficking and modern-day slavery through his Ricky Martin Foundation, established in 2000.

He is a great activist who supports UNICEF in its struggle against human trafficking, in fighting HIV, and to help the people in his native country, Puerto Rico, recover from natural and public health disasters. His efforts have brought him much recognition, being awarded the "Humanitarian Award" by the Hispanic Federation as well as the "National Visibility Award" by the Human Rights Campaign.

He was honored for his valuable contributions when New York City proclaimed a "Ricky Martin Day" in his name for both his artistic and philanthropic legacies. CSW/LA Pride Board President Gerald Garth had high praise for the upcoming performance: "With his electrifying stage presence and chart-topping hits, Ricky Martin has long been an inspiration to millions around the world." His participation has, therefore, been pointed out to go beyond mere performance to symbolize a robust affirmation of queer Latin identity and, therefore, further extend the scale at which diversity is celebrated within the LGBTQ+ community.

The 2024 LA Pride in the Park will take place at the Los Angeles State Historic Park, a 20-acre space that has the capacity to hold 25,000 people. This year's theme, "Power in Pride," underlines the strength felt in the LGBTQIA+ community for living fiercely and truthfully as their best selves.
