Prince William expressed heartfelt gratitude as he resumed his royal duties, acknowledging the support and well-wishes received for his wife, Princess Kate, and his father, King Charles, both of whom are currently undergoing cancer treatment.

During his visit on April 18 to the food distribution charity Surplus to Supper in Sunbury-on-Thames, Prince William was visibly moved when volunteer Rachel Candappa presented him with thoughtful cards for the royal family members facing health challenges.

The Prince of Wales, aged 41, warmly thanked Candappa, remarking, "Oh, some cards, you’re very kind. Thank you very much," as captured in a video shared by Lizzie Robinson of ITN. The encounter became more poignant when Candappa, aged 71, advised the Prince to take care of his wife.

In a touching response, he placed his hand on her shoulder and assured her, "I will," a moment reported by The Telegraph. This engagement marked Prince William's return to public appearances after he took time off following the announcement of Princess Kate's diagnosis.

The Prince had previously cleared his schedule to support his wife post her abdominal surgery on January 16, striving to maintain normalcy for their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, during the school break.

Royal Health Updates

Buckingham Palace had previously disclosed the 75-year-old King’s cancer diagnosis on February 5, following treatments for a benign enlarged prostate in January. The statement clarified that his condition was not related to prostate cancer.

Shortly after, on March 22, the 42-year-old Princess of Wales revealed she was undergoing chemotherapy following surgery that detected cancer. The royal couple has chosen to share their health battles publicly, ensuring the timing was considerate of their family's privacy needs.

This careful timing allowed them to focus on family amidst ongoing treatments, with the Princess expressing in a heartfelt video message her anticipation to return to her duties once medically advised. Amid these personal challenges, Prince William has continued to express his appreciation for the public's support.

Speaking at the London’s Air Ambulance Charity Gala Dinner on February 7, he thanked everyone for their messages of support, humorously noting the medical focus of recent weeks and his choice to attend the event to lighten the mood.

Meanwhile, King Charles has managed to maintain some of his royal engagements, discreetly working behind the scenes and making brief public appearances, such as a mini walkabout after church services at St. George’s Chapel on Easter Sunday.
