In a surprising twist from reality TV's romantic endeavors, 'Golden Bachelor' stars Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist have decided to part ways after a brief three-month marriage. The couple, who became the first to wed under the franchise's new banner, announced their divorce on April 12 during an appearance on Good Morning America.

Their union, celebrated with fanfare earlier this year, has ended, sparking a wave of reactions, including from NBC's renowned weatherman, Al Roker. Following the announcement on the "Today" show, Roker couldn't help but comment on the fleeting nature of the couple's relationship.

"Unbelievable! It just goes to show that old people could be just as stupid," Roker quipped, drawing laughter from his co-host Carson Daly and the studio audience. After engaging in the light-hearted banter, Daly responded, "Well, you said it, Al," acknowledging Roker's blunt take on the situation.

Logistical Challenges Prevail

The root of their separation, as revealed during their morning show appearance, stemmed from logistical challenges rather than lost affection.

Both Turner, 74, and Nist, 70, have expressed their ongoing love for each other despite the geographical hurdles that have marked their brief married life. Living apart—Turner in his Indiana lake house and Nist in New Jersey - they faced insurmountable difficulties consolidating their residences.

"We looked at home after home, but we never got to the point where we made that decision," Nist explained. Despite their best efforts and intentions to make their marriage work, differing life priorities led them to the conclusion that they would be happier living separately.

Turner shared, "The thing that strikes me the most in our conversations, it's been how dedicated both of us are to our families”. This mutual respect and understanding have guided their amicable decision to dissolve their marriage.

Even in the face of their split, both Turner and Nist have maintained a positive outlook on their relationship, underscoring their enduring affection. "I still love this person. There’s no doubt in my mind, I still am in love with her. I root for her every day,” Turner stated warmly, with Nist reciprocating, “I still love him”.
